Built in the 16th century

The Farmhouse Inn
Welcome to The Farmhouse Inn!  Built in the 16th century, it overlooks the Chelmer Valley and some of the most beautiful countryside that Essex has to offer. Set in the quiet hamlet of Monk Street, about two miles from the historic town of Thaxted, with it⣙s 14th century church, windmill and many other fine old buildings.  The Inn boasts en-suite accommodation and fine dining.  A promise of the finest real ales and good company are to be had in the bar.

Set in the heart of the Uttlesford District, The Farmhouse Inn is surrounded by countryside and historic attractions. Please have a look at the Local Attractions page for more information.

The Gallery now shows some of the past events and goings on in and around The Farmhouse Inn.

“I stayed at The Farmhouse two weekends in a row due to work in nearby Saffron Walden. Different rooms each time and both were well equipped, clean, comfortable, good tv, with bath and shower. English breakfast was excellent and I had one bar meal that hit the spot after a long day. A friendly place to stay. Thanks!”

“Can't speak too highly of this place. A real gem. Lovely old pub with additions in stunning countryside, and a beautiful garden. Constant listing in Good Beer Guide, great food and very reasonable prices. Long may you continue Sylvia and family. ”
